Human Resource Management and Society Chair (H lab) – How to conduct impactful research in management and contribute to the social transition?

   Louvain School of Managment

Challenges

Organisations play a key role in this transition. The Human Resource Management and Society Chair (H lab) is a transdisciplinary research space that disseminates and co-constructs scientific knowledge, contributing to rehumanising management (in profit, non-profit, public and private organisations). The H lab studies contemporary issues in human resource management (employee retention, attractiveness of the organisation, hybrid working, AI, recognition, flexibility, professional development, etc.) and supports teaching, continuing education, research and practice in Human Resource Management. Since 2021, the Chair’s ecosystem has conducted 40 thematic research projects, training 120 professionals (CEOs, HR directors, business leaders) in these management issues, as well as 270 students in the Master in HRM focusing more specifically on ethical issues in HRM; 680 professionals who were involved in the Chair’s work as co-researchers; 18 researchers (including three postdoctoral researchers) and 18 Belgian and international members of academia who supervised the research.

UCLouvain’s contribution

At UCLouvain, Professor Laurent Taskin specialises in Human Resources Management and Organisation Studies. His research focuses on how to build community in our digitalised and individualised society, which is characterised by social isolation and a lack of recognition at work. Professor Taskin and his team have established H Lab, a community of scientists, practitioners and students in the field of human resources management, focusing on research, teaching and services. This Chair is currently funded by a dozen organisations that are key players in this socialmanagerial and organisational transition.
