As a university museum, Musée L is committed to supporting and encouraging research into its collections and museum practices. We collaborate with researchers and students on master’s dissertations, doctoral theses, postdoctoral projects and any other academic initiatives related to our institution. We welcome all research projects connected with our collections or practices.

Provenance research at Musée L
Provenance research aims to trace the complete history of an object—from its creation, or its discovery in the case of archaeological artefacts, to its acquisition by the museum. Since 2025, in accordance with museum codes of ethics, Musée L has conducted provenance research in order to:

document the history of its collections;

prevent any ethical or legal risks associated with potentially problematic acquisitions;

fill gaps in the documentation and share the findings with the public.
