The 600th anniversary of the founding of our University is also a unique opportunity to reflect on the close links between our two sister universities (now UCLouvain and KULeuven) and our shared history. As a symbol of the latter, the rich collection of casts will be honoured in 2025.
It consists of plaster replicas of works from different periods that have been acquired by the university since the second half of the 19th century for teaching purposes in archaeology and art history. Although separated since 1974 between Musée L and the Didactisch Museum Archeologie de Leuven (DMA), this collection continues to be promoted and used in both institutions for teaching purposes.
From June 2025, come and rediscover the history of these casts through an interactive display on the 4th floor of Musée L and at the DMA, based on 3D digitisation of several pieces from both institutions.
