For more than a century, plaster casts have played a central role in artistic and scientific education at the University of Louvain.
Today, a project of digitization, documentation, and promotion offers an opportunity to rethink their uses and modes of transmission. Thanks to this project, carried out in close collaboration between UCLouvain, Musée L, and the Didactisch Museum Archeologie, the two collections of casts (UCLouvain and KU Leuven) have been symbolically reunited through the creation of a virtual tour, accessible simultaneously from both institutions.
This meeting with the project’s coordinators will present the challenges of this inter-university collaboration with KU Leuven, the choices that shaped it, as well as the new perspectives opened by integrating these heritage collections into an interactive system designed for a museum such as Musée L.
The meeting will be held in English and hosted by Anthony Peeters (UCLouvain, Herit & Tech), Hendrik Hameeuw (KU Leuven), and Marianne Toonen (KU Leuven).
