Collections portal

The collections portal is a new tool for enhancing the visibility of the collections, launched in May 2024. It allows users to quickly access detailed information about the history and descriptions of the artworks and objects preserved at the Musée L, whether they are currently on display in the museum galleries or not.

The portal offers two different access points: a public access and a professional access, the latter requiring a username and password.

The public access provides a curated selection of artworks and objects that reflect the richness and diversity of the museum's collections. This selection is regularly updated in line with ongoing research, publications, and the museum’s activities. It also includes a series of Focus articles that offer insights into various themes related to the artworks and objects in the collections.

The professional access is designed for teachers, researchers, and students who wish to study the collections and contribute to the enrichment of existing knowledge. It grants access to the entire collection of artworks and objects housed in the museum. An advanced search function allows for easy navigation through more than 30,000 records. Creating an account requires a prior request through an online form.

The launch of the collections portal marks a significant step forward in our commitment to making the heritage of the Musée L accessible to everyone. We envision this portal as a complementary tool to the direct experience of the artworks during a museum visit. It also opens up remarkable opportunities for research and learning, both within the University and beyond.
